Well,
I said, we'd get round to it, and it seems we have. :) scythe.net
has received a full overhaul, complete with a spiffy new
logo and frames (well, a frame. If it annoys everyone too
much, i'll take it down). It's a stellar step not only in
presentation, but also in development - this is the first
build I have not written in notepad/textedit [about time
too :P - J], meaning I've had to get off my ass and learn
how to use Dreamweaver in design view. :)
Our focus has now largely
shifted to gaming, and we will be assimilating a force of
freelancer assets (read: allied school kids) to help keep
tabs on gaming in general, as well as write reviews.
The opinions section is
now being expanded to include movies, tv shows, and music,
in addition to our previous semi-intelligent spiels.
Thanks to the aid of others,
it looks like sycthe.net can keep expanding, though in a
manner that doesn't really chew into our bandwidth allocation.

| The
new version of scythe.net has been uploaded...finally. The about
us page has gone missing, so that'll be nonexistent until we
can track it down. |
| 4.3.2004
- 18.57 |
| Main
pages, bar about us, are all finished, just waiting for content
in the gaming
and opinions
sections before we actively promote this new build. |

The
new scythe.net index has been readied for uploading, in all
it's greyscale glory. :)
The Halo Guide is being temporarily
abandoned, so we can focus on other aspects of the site requiring
our attention Expect an expansion in the games section sometime
in the near future.
Also, the first installment
of newswire has been added. Basically, if I find a news item
amusing (on cnn.com or whatever), i'll cut and paste it into
there. Remember, information is power. |

| -Foul-mouthed
parrot banned for Queen's ship visit
LONDON: A foul-mouthed parrot, which blurts
out expletives and pecks people when she's angry [sounds kinda
like Hector :P - Ed], is to be removed from a British Royal
Navy ship to spare any embarrassment during a visit by Queen
Elizabeth.
African-grey parrot Sunny will be sent ashore
from HMS Lancaster so she doesn't ruffle any royal feathers
when the queen and her husband Prince Philip visit the ship
on Friday, British newspapers reported yesterday.
The frigate's 205-strong crew are determined
to avoid a repeat of a recent visit by the British fleet's
commander-in-chief, when Sunny's four-lettered rantings could
be heard even though she was locked in a cupboard.
"She learns new words
all the time and mimics what people say," Lieutenant
Commander John Pheasant was quoted as saying. -REUTERS

cat burglar caught napping on job.
AMSTERDAM: A Dutch cat burglar
was caught napping on a couch during a nocturnal heist and
arrested, police say.
The burglar curled up on a
couch for a nap in the Rotterdam home he was robbing and was
found snoozing by the owners' son, who held the 26-year-old
thief while his parents called police.
"It's not very smart
to fall asleep in the house you are trying to burgle,"
a Rotterdam police spokesman said. -REUTERS |

-Polaroid
warns not to 'shake it' like Outkast.
LONDON: Outkast fans like
to "shake it like a Polaroid picture," but the instant
camera maker is warning consumers that taking the advice of
the hip-hop stars could ruin your snapshots.
Outkast's number one hit Hey
Ya includes the 'shake it' line as a reference to the motion
that amateur photographers use to help along the self-developing
film.
But in the "answers"
section on the Polaroid website the company says that shaking
photos, which once helped them to dry, is not necessary since
the modern version of Polaroid film dries behind a clear plastic
window.
The image "never touches
air, so shaking or waving has no effect," the company
said on its website.
"In fact, shaking or
waving can actually damage the image. Rapid movement during
development can cause portions of the film to separate prematurely,
or can cause 'blobs' in the picture."
Polaroid says its film should
be laid on a flat surface and shielded from the wind, and
that users should avoid bending or twisting their pictures.
